The operator inserts a flexible suction hose through the tank access cover and the pump creates a vacuum that draws the liquid and semi-liquid contents into the tanker. Once the tank is empty, the hose is withdrawn, the access cover replaced, and a bacterial inoculant is applied. The tanker then drives to a licensed faecal sludge treatment and disposal facility for discharge.
